Inspiration From “Famous For: I Believe”

posted in: Hallelujahs | 2

Every part of “Famous For (I Believe) sung by Tauren Wells, Jenn Johnson and Christine D’Clario has been so meaningful to me in the past couple of months. I believe the writers, Chuck ButlerKrissy NordhoffJordan SappAlexis Slifer, and Tauren Wells were truly relaying a message God wanted us to hear in this hour.  Upon first hearing it, I started to relate because I had a hunger and expectation for God to do a new thing in me and in this country. I wanted to see miracles like those in the book of Acts. I wanted to see a restoration of all that the devil has stolen from my family.  I wanted to have signs and wonders follow me and rivers of living waters flow from me as I believe. I wanted to see answers to prayers I have been praying in faith, and the fulfillment of promises I believe God made to me many years ago. Then more and more stressful things started to come to a culmination so that even more of this song seemed so relevant. Let me explain piece by piece and perhaps you will also relate.  It starts with the following declaration.

“There is no fear, ‘cause I believe

There is no doubt, ‘cause I have seen

Your faithfulness, my fortress

Over and over”

Those words sum up the reason for my faith and peace in time of transition and stress. The peace that passes understanding is mine because I know God’s faithfulness. His promises are my fortress. He has been faithful to take care my husband and I through many situations. He has done miracles for us and I know of others for whom he has miraculously pulled through. On top of all that, His Word gives numerous examples of his love and the faithfulness of his sovereign hand. If you can’t think of a miracle in your life, look for those you’ve heard of from others as well as those described in the Bible. Then remember, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”  Hebrews 13:8

“I have a hope found in your name.”

“I have a strength found in your grace

Your faithfulness, my fortress

Over and over.”

Proverbs 18:10 says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous runneth into and is safe.” Lamentations chapter 3 tells us that the mercies of the Lord are new every morning and his faithfulness is great. Paul reminds us of what God had told him in 2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”  That’s why I can rely on the strength of his name in a crisis and know that his miraculous power will shine through.

Then the song transitions into the powerful chorus. As injustice and difficulty have mounted along with the need for direction and answered prayer, I sing out in faith…

“Make way through the waters

Walk me through the fire

Do what you are famous for

What you are famous for”

He will safely guide, protect, and walk with me through these trials just as he entered the fire with the three Hebrew children and brought them out victoriously.  I am eager to see him do awesome things even beyond Biblical proportions. He parted the Red Sea and created seeing eyes from mud balls. These miracles happened in seemingly impossible situations when only he could receive the glory for what was done. I long to see those kinds of miracles with my own eyes and give glory to Jesus alone for doing them. Miracles aren’t needed if there is no problem. Big problems require big miracles. I’m ready Jesus. What big miracle are you expecting? God likes to surprise us with things beyond our imagination.

I continue to declare the song…

“Shut the mouths of lions

Bring dry bones to life and

Do what you are famous for

What you are famous for”

Just as he shut the mouths of the lions in the den into which Daniel was cast, he will do the same for me. Isaiah 54:17 says, “No weapon formed against thee shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgement thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.” I stand on this promise. There is no reason not to since I do truly serve him, not myself. Because of this I can fully expect victory.

Ezekiel, in chapter 37 of his book, saw God bring together and put life into the valley of dry bones when Ezekial spoke to them as he was commanded. Just as Israel was both physically and spiritually desolate, God was promising to restore them in both ways. No other nation of people has been exiled and scattered throughout the Earth as the Jews were and then brought back together to become a nation once again as happened in 1948. They have been given the opportunity for spiritual renewal with the salvation offered by the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This spiritual renewal that has begun will continue and increase up until the second coming of Jesus. Similarly, I can declare that the dry bones of the backsliders in my family and beyond will be raised up a mighty host in the army of God. I am declaring a restoration of our country to its Christian roots and the purpose for which it was formed. God alone can and will do this. That’s why I can sing…

“I believe in you

God I believe in you.

I pray the next part of the song when it says,

“Release your love inside of me

Unleash your power, for all to see

Spirit, come, and fall on us

Over and over, oh Lord.”

I want his love to flow from me to the many hurting souls around me. Only he can actually heal them. I pray that my pride, fear, and any other hindrances are removed so he can do this work.  I want the world to see how powerful he is. He is mighty to save and deliver to the uttermost. And he is willing to do so because he loves them.

The chorus is then repeated before the next part I also love is ready to be sung…

“God of exceedingly, God of abundantly

More than we ask or think

Lord, You will never fail.”

This comes straight out of Ephesians 3:20 which says, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”  God loves to blow our minds with what he can do. Isn’t it awesome to know that if we have been filled with his spirit, our complete surrender being signified by our speaking in tongues, then his awesome power is what is living and working in us?

This section of the song continues…

“Your name is powerful,

Your words unstoppable

All things are possible in you.”

When Jesus sent out the seventy disciple to minister, they returned rejoicing saying, “Lord even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.” Luke 10:17. Philippians 2:9 declares, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name.” And Acts 4:12 states, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Thank God the name of Jesus is given to us when it is spoken over us in baptism. We then carry his name and the power that goes with it.

His words are unstoppable. In Isaiah 55:11 God proclaims, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” That’s why we can stand confidently on the promises contained in the Bible and the things he has spoken to us personally. Mark 10:27, along with other places in the Bible, reminds us that, “With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all thing are possible.” No matter what things look like around us when seen with the natural eye, God has assured us that he will work everything for our good because we love him and are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28. We must have the faith children trusting the word and strength of our Father.

Parts of the song are repeated, of course. And in the version I am connecting, another song I love ends this version powerfully and with a mighty anointing. It says,

“I’ve seen you move, you move a mountain

And I believe, I’ll see you do it again

You’ve made a way, where there is no way

And I believe, I’ll see you do it again.”

What God has done in the past, he can do again, and so much more. What are you believing God for? Are you declaring it in faith? Does this song inspire you to sing or speak it out boldly? I hope this blog on how these words have impacted me does inspire you. Please leave a comment with your thoughts and subscribe and share if this has blessed you.
